Mission Plan
The nominal duration of the mission is 3 years. Following the end of the mission, the objective is to ensure that SAGE deorbits (i.e., reenters Earth’s atmosphere) within the recommended post-mission 5-year debris mitigation time scale. Thus, an initial orbit is required that will allow SAGE to remain in orbit for a minimum of three years and a maximum of eight years. The range of initial orbits that meet this objective have been determined using ESA’s DRAMA simulation software. The analysis and results can be found in section 5.
